news! news!
Six successful events for IBW 23 June 2010 Independent Booksellers Week was a busy one at Atkinson-Pryce this year, with six events in all. They all went well with good support from adults and children alike. Andrew Greig started the week with his latest book "At the Loch of the Green Corrie", standing room only, but what a treat to have him speak to a select audience in the intimacy of the sitting room at the bookshop. On Wednesday eveing the tralaticious bibliopolist entertained us with his stories and knowledge, also to a full house. Cathy Cassidy proved popular with youngsters and her cake party at Plaisir next door went with a swing. The Very Hungry Caterpillar's 40th Birthday Party was very popular with a large turnout of little people who helped make our own Very Hungry Caterpillar to display in the shop. Many thanks to Katie Brown, our storytime friend for all her hard work. Pictures in the gallery soon! Illustrator and author Teresa Flavin was in the shop on Saturday morning and ran a workshop for youngsters. Finally on Monday 21st Karen Campbell visited Atkinson-Pryce to promote her latest novel "Shadowplay" and talked about her writing to a full house. Our thanks to all, authors, audiences and helpers, young and older alike, who helped make the week a such a success. Shortlisted for IBY Award 10 March 2010 Having decided to submit an entry for the Independent Bookseller of the Year Award, we have been shortlisted for Scotland/Northern England region... so far so good! We shall hear who the regional winners are during the second week in April. The award is one of the British Book Industry Awards (aka "The Nibbies") which will take place on 17th May. Brownsbank Anthology 20 February 2010 Great news! "The Brownsbank Anthology" is now published and in stock. It is an anthology of writing by visitors frae aa the airts, inspired by time spent at Brownsbank Cottage. Price £7.99. This was a project started by Tom Bryan, the previous writer-in-residence and brought to fruition by Carl MacDougall, the current Brownsbank fellow. It is an inspiring collection and a nicely produced book. |
